Psalm 24

Of David. A psalm.

¹The earth is the Lord’s,^(A) and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;^(B)
²for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.^(C)

³Who may ascend the mountain^(D) of the Lord?
    Who may stand in his holy place?^(E)
⁴The one who has clean hands^(F) and a pure heart,^(G)
    who does not trust in an idol^(H)
    or swear by a false god.^[a]

⁵They will receive blessing^(I) from the Lord
and vindication^(J) from God their Savior.
⁶Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face,^(K) God of Jacob.^[b]^[c]

⁷Lift up your heads, you gates;^(L)
    be lifted up, you ancient doors,
    that the King^(M) of glory^(N) may come in.^(O)
⁸Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,^(P)
    the Lord mighty in battle.^(Q)
⁹Lift up your heads, you gates;
    lift them up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
¹⁰Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty^(R)—
    he is the King of glory.

The Ark^(A)

¹⁰“Have them make an ark^[a]^(B) of acacia wood—two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high.^[b] ¹¹Overlay^(C) it with pure gold, both inside and out, and make a gold molding around it. ¹²Cast four gold rings for it and fasten them to its four feet, with two rings^(D) on one side and two rings on the other. ¹³Then make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.^(E) ¹⁴Insert the poles^(F) into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it. ¹⁵The poles are to remain in the rings of this ark; they are not to be removed.^(G) ¹⁶Then put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law,^(H) which I will give you.

¹⁷“Make an atonement cover^(I) of pure gold—two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. ¹⁸And make two cherubim^(J) out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. ¹⁹Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends. ²⁰The cherubim^(K) are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing^(L) the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover. ²¹Place the cover on top of the ark^(M) and put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law^(N) that I will give you. ²²There, above the cover between the two cherubim^(O) that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet^(P) with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.^(Q)
